ImagoDei

Our story

A seed planted
in Varginha.

ImagoDei Church was born during the Covid-19 pandemic out of a family gathering devoted to prayer, the study of the Scriptures and discipleship. In 2021, this small group became a local community with the arrival of brothers and sisters from Arujá (São Paulo), beginning a journey marked by making disciples and by the growth of the church.

Over the years, God has led ImagoDei through important transitions, including a change in pastoral leadership in 2024, when Ramon Sales took on the pastorate after the church-planting pastor, Webb Venga, moved to the United States. That season spurred the church toward maturity, with a stronger membership, the training of deacons and elders, and greater intentionality in mission.

Today, ImagoDei gathers around 100 members, has celebrated 12 new believers baptized in its first five years, and remains committed to making disciples, serving the city of Varginha and glorifying Christ in every area of life.

We are a church that pursues the centrality of the Gospel, fostering a biblical culture in our relationships. We believe in the ongoing work of the Spirit's Power through His strengthening presence and His Gifts, which build up a vibrant church that is active in our city.

Our context, our strength and our missional passion

Varginha: the place where God made us take root.

In the coffee capital and "princess" of southern Minas Gerais, Varginha — an entrepreneurial, welcoming city known for its quality of life, yet also marked by a traditional and conservative religiosity, often accompanied by spiritual shallowness and a fragile, superficial witness — there is fertile ground for God's redeeming work. It is in this context that ImagoDei Church was born: to proclaim the true gospel of Jesus Christ and to glorify God by making disciples chosen by Him and conformed to the image of Christ, living as a community marked by zeal, reverence and devotion, expressed in loving and creative service, and moved by its core passions — pastoral and relational care, intentional mission and faithful teaching of the Scriptures — offering the city a relevant, incarnational and transforming Christian witness that serves Varginha with love and commitment to the Kingdom of God.

We glorify God and make disciples when we cherish a culture of the gospel and loving service.
